On Friday, the world will end–at least in theaters. As Sony’s apocalyptic 2012 premieres, expectations rise up that it will make it big in the box office. And why not? The movie spent about $200 million for production cost and marketing expenses.
2012 is set to open in 105 global territories which will be on the same time with its domestic premiere.
The film was directed by the same person who made “The Day After Tomorrow,” Roland Emmerich. It stars John Cusack, and Woody Harrelson. It’s action-packed and promises a lot of special effects, much to the excitement of fans who like explosion scenes.
The movie takes on the significance of the year 2012 and how it spells doomsday according to some cultures, religions and scientists. It is an epic adventure about a “global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.”
