Pakistani police said that at least three people were killed on Monday a suicide bomber detonated explosives at a police checkpoint in the northwest city of Peshawar.

Peshawar police official Kiramat Hussain said that the victims were a police officer, a civilian, and the driver of the rickshaw that the suicide bomber was riding.

Hussain added that at least five others were wounded in the attack on the well-known Ring Road.

Peshawar–the capital of the North West Frontier Province–has come under increasingly frequent attacks in recent days.

A suicide car bomber killed 12 people, including an area mayor on Sunday.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which injured at least 36 people on the outskirts of Peshawar.

At least 100 people were killed and 200 others were wounded when a massive car bomb tore through the heart of a bustling marketplace in Peshawar on October 28.
