The trial of Amanda Knox is coming to an end. The American exchange student made her final statement to the Italian court, saying she is “scared of having the mask of an assassin forced” onto her. Knox wept as she stood in front of the jury last month to say that the accusations against her were “pure fantasy.”

Knox is being tried for the murder of her roommate, British student Meredith Kercher. Kercher was found with fatal stabs in the neck in November of 2007 in the bedroom of the rented home she shared with Knox in Perugia. Knox’s boyfriend at the time Raffaele Sollecito is also a suspect. Knox, Sollecito, and Kercher were all students at the Umbrian university town.

Prosecutors are calling for a life sentence for Knox and Sollecito on the charges that they sexually assaulted and murdered Kercher. This news has brought great media attention due to this brutal crime details of sex and drugs.
