Former NFL cheerleader Anjelah Johnson is now a stand-up comic and actress. Johnson joined the cast of the upcoming Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and she will also be starring with America Ferrera in Our Family Wedding.

Only last summer, Johnson came to Houston to tape her special show for Comedy Central. Let’s learn more about it as Hair Balls talks to her about her exciting Houston Special.

Asked why Johnson chose Houston as the set for her special show, Johnson said, “Sometimes you get a crowd that’s like, ‘Ah, entertain me, impress me.’ Then you get crowds where people come out to laugh and just have a good time. That’s pretty much what Houston’s about.”

Asked about the part where hiphop dancers come to close the show, Johnson said she got an all-girl break dancing group which was featured on America’s Best Dance Crew. Johnson said, “They open my show and then I come out at the end with them as well. And I have a female DJ, which is also seen as a man’s job. So me, the dance crew, the dj, we’re all an up-to-date version of Rosie the Riveter, a young, urban, hip group of women saying, ‘This is how we do it now.’”
