Sister of singer Jessica Simpson and young wife of rock star Pete Wentz, Ashlee will reprise her role in the popular Broadway musical, Chicago, which she launched in the London stage. Ashlee will again play Roxie Hart as she joins the cast of the Tony award-winning Kander and Ebb musical.
Simpson-Wentz will only play until February 7, 2010 at Broadway’s Ambassador Theatre. Roz Ryan returns to the company on November 30 to reprise the role of Matron “Mama” Morton.
In a statement, Simpson-Wentz said, “I’m honored to be reprising my role as Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast. Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true.”
Simpson-Wentz’s is a popstar whose albums include “Autobiography,” “I Am Me” and “Bittersweet World.” She also made a name on TV, appearing on “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Saved by the Bell,” and “7th Heaven.” She also had a show on MTV, entitled, “The Ashlee Simpson Show.”
