Allen Klein, the former manager of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, has died in New York due to Alzheimer’s last Saturday. He was 77.
Klein, a critical record label owner, was best known for being publicly accepted as one of the most key note roles in the demise of The Beatles. He also owned rights to several of The Rolling Stones’ best known songs.
He also owned ABKCO Music & Records, one of the biggest independent record labels among multinational-run industry.
The company holds more than 2,000 copyrights, including works by The Rolling Stones, Ray Davies (The Kinks) and Pete Townshend (The Who), along with recordings by Herman’s Hermits, Bobby Womack and Chubby Checker, among others.
