In a new book, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi denies the sex scandal which have started a string of intrigues.

The infamous sex scandal was the reason why Berlusconi’s second wife and mother of three of his five children sought for divorce. Berlusconi said his wife, Veronica Lario, made a mistake by believing what the Italian papers accused him.

In a TV talk show entitled, “Porta a Porta,” Berlusconi talked about his alleged affair with an 18-year old. His wife Lario cited Berlusconi’s presence on the teen’s birthday party. Berlusconi says his relationship with the teen has a right to privacy.

In addition to those charges, Berlusconi was also accused of getting showgirls as European parliament candidates and of consorting with young women.

The Italian premier defends this by saying he gets “only women with a career profile that was of morally, intellectually, and culturally high standards” for female parliamentary candidates.

In support of this, the book’s author interviewed the businessman who were said to have hired those escorts. According to him, Berlusconi really did not know who the girls were.
