Following their latest victory, Alex McLeish hailed his Birmingham side’s 11-game unbeaten run as “awesome.”

Birmingham has not enjoyed a similar stretch in the top flight without defeat since 1908.

Cameron Jerome’s bundled 50th-minute effort was enough for a 1-0 win over free-falling Stoke although the away side also relied on two stunning saves from Joe Hart.

“The run we’re on is an awesome achievement from the players. With every week, every victory, every good performance, then the expectations rise, and the players have met them head on every time,” ex-Rangers and Scotland boss McLeish said.

“When we finally managed to get the breakthrough this time it was from a set-piece after withstanding a barrage of long throws, corners and free-kicks from Stoke, but again the boys rose to the challenge,” he added.

For the eighth game in a row, McLeish fielded the same unchanged line up. He feared his side could run out of steam, he added.
