After 2 years of delay, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner finally took flight Tuesday in Everett, Washington.
The Boeing 787 was first scheduled for testing way back in 2007 but was beset with problems with its foreign and domestic supply chain for the delay, especially the ongoing fastener shortage, the lack of documentation from overseas suppliers, and continuing delays with the flight guidance software.
The new Boeing aircraft took off smoothly at Everett’s Paine Field at around 10:30 a.m. PST. The 4-hour flight was piloted by Michael Carriker and Randall Neville, who perform a series of tests and system checks before landing at Boeing Field in Seattle, reported the Daily Contributor.
