The Musicians Union of Australia has released a statement as a reply to the controversy. They said concert-goers should have been warned that they were buying tickets to a lip-synched performance. They added that the fans were misled for the false advertising.
Spears is set to perform three shows in Melbourne this week and then she will continue across Australia. Her “Circus” tour will conclude by the end of November.
The tour’s promoter Paul Dainty, told The Australian, “It’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard,” referring to the reports that fans actually walked out of the concert upon knowing it was lip-synched.
Dainty adds, “I’m so angry. We can take heat if there’s something wrong and people can review shows badly – that’s something you have to live with – but to say people stormed out of the show was an absolute fabrication.”
Spears, on the other hand, said in a statement that she came to Australia to see her fans.
