Actress Brittany Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 am at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday. She was only 32 years old. Hospital spokeswoman Sally Stewart would not provide a cause of death and any further information.

A neighbor said she saw firefighters trying to resuscitate Murphy on Sunday morning. She was on a stretcher, and looked dead at the scene.

Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 in the morning at the home Murphy shares with husband Simon Monjack, a British screenwriter.

The actress’ father Angelo Bertolotti learned of his daughter’s death from his son. He was stunned. “She was just an absolute doll since she was born. Her personality was always outward. Everybody loved her — people that made movies with her, people on a cruise — they all loved her. She was just a regular gal.”

Murphy was famous for her roles in “Clueless,” “Girl Interrupted,” and “8 mile.”
