As the world mourns the loss of a promising talent, it’s inevitable that some people will be suspicious of Brittany Murphy‘s sudden death.

Los Angeles police Detective Wendi Berndt said, “We went to the scene to see if there was anything that suggests foul play, and there wasn’t.”

Authorities also said on Monday that the actress did appear to have died of natural causes. In addition, Murphy was said to have been suffering flu-like symptoms days before she collapsed in the bathroom.

An autopsy was already conducted. Officials are now waiting for the toxicology and tissue testing results before they can declare an official cause of death. Unfortunately, this could take up to six weeks.

Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday morning. She was pronounced dead due to cardiac arrest.

Husband Simon Monjack together with her family wrote in a statement, “The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy. She was our daughter, our wife, our love, and a shining star.”
