Thousands of tourists were disappointed after the tower lookout of the Burj building in Dubai was shutdown.

The Burj is the world’s tallest tower. The shutdown was unexpected considering the fact that it just opened about a month ago.

The reason for the closing was suspicious. The building owner, Emaar Properties, said it was due to “unexpected high traffic.” But they also suggested that electrical problems could have had a role.

Emaar said, “Technical issues with the power supply are being worked on by the main and subcontractors and the public will be informed upon completion.”

Ever since it has opened on January 5, the Burj has attracted so many tourists and tickets for the observation deck are not so easy to get. The tourists who were affected by the closure will be offered a choice of re-booking or refund.

“All ticket holders who wish to rebook shall be given top priority,” Emaar said.
