US opens its first ever marijuana cafe. Located in Portland, Oregon, the Cannabis Cafe is the first ever to give certified medical marijuana users a venue where they can get marijuana and smoke it.
Oregon’s executive director of NORML (a group pushing for marijuana legalization) Madeline Martinez, says Cannabis Cafe symbolizes personal freedom for the organization’s members.
She adds, “Our plans go beyond serving food and marijuana. We hope to have classes, seminars, even a Cannabis Community College, based here to help people learn about growing and other uses for cannabis.”
The cafe is a two-story building. It formerly housed an adult erotic club called Rumpspankers. Now it’s open to any Oregon resident who is a NORML member. They just have to hold an official medical marijuana card.
Members enjoy free marijuana from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. They also serve food. All these for a monthly fee of $25.
