On top of the list are Ford Focus,  the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla, of which are compact cars.

According to a CNN report the list of top-selling cars indicates that consumers are buying more fuel-efficient vehicles than most people expected.

Under the plan as enacted, vehicles purchased after July 1 are eligible for refund vouchers worth $3,500 to $4,500 on traded-in gas guzzlers. The trade-in vehicle has to get a combined city and highway fuel economy rating of 18 miles per gallon or less.

Hey, it's the people's choice; freedom of choice is what counts. I'm amazed at how many people think all the people who work for a "foreign" auto maker should be unemployed, now that would be a great addition to the economy right now. The world is a very very tiny place, there is no such thing as buying an american car. You should be glad people are BUYING SOMETHING! If the big three had a better product(s) to offer, the situation would be different! It's that simple!

Yes, traded in an old pickup I kept around for occasional trash hauling trips and bought a new Lexus 330 SUV - and got 4,500 back! I wanted to thank my fellow taxpayers for their help.

Um...no you didn't. Lexus has not made the 330 since 2006. The CARS program applies to new car purchases only. Even if the 330 was still made today, it wouldn't qualify since its combined mpg in 2006 was 2o. Nice flame though.
