Undeniably Juan Manuel Marquez was brilliant and scary in the early rounds, the 38 year old had the strength of a horse in his legs and rabbit-like moves. He began hitting Manny Pacquiao straight in the face and at times tagging the body. His strategy was superb, his experience inside the ring for more than 18 years was paying off until the fight reached the 8th round where Marquez somehow could not keep it steady to the end.

That’s when Pacquiao would snap his forehead with sneaky jabs in the late rounds. But this could be the bout the champ threw less and less shots at his opponent, wary of Marquez’s counter punches if he takes the bait. Pacquiao failed to display his ability to throw punches at different angles, no more side stepping, risks that he should have taken if only he was as quick as he was when he fought Morales, Dela Hoya, and Cotto. Maybe he’s not that nimble anymore? Did Manny come unprepared? This is all drama I say.

So many questions, but the fact of the matter is we didn’t see the “real” Pacman in this third installment. It’s just unbelievable how Pacquiao seemed “lost” inside the ring.

What’s inside my head is this: It is a strategy to lure out the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. Remember that after the Mosley-Pacquiao, Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach said that the champ has two more fights before he retires? This is where the Pacman turns greedy, even too greedy for the Money. He’s designing the last fight of his career to be both spectacular and enriching. He’ll be retiring with a new monicker, “Money the Pacman” Pacquiao.

You can hear the booing coming out of your television speakers as soon as the score cards was announced by Michael Buffer. Judges Robert Hoyle tallied a draw at 114-114, Dave Moretti a 115-113 and Glen Trowbridge a 116-112, both in favor of the defending champ Manny Pacquiao. Juan Manuel Marquez, his camp and his fans felt robbed, but was he?

Marquez was not robbed wrote ESPN’s Michael Woods. Manny, according to the CompuBox stats, threw 578 to the 38-year-old Mexican’s 436. He landed more, 176 to 138, as well.

See? Even if Manny looked slow, his slowness is still fast for the audience’s eyes.

While one aircraft survived the accident, the other crashed to the ground and exploded on impact, scattering debris over a wide area, authorities said. The impact was so strong a resident thought it was a huge earthquake. The accident claimed two lives and critically wounding a third.

The surviving aircraft managed to land Champoeg State Park, two people escaped with their lives. The more unfortunate plane went down into a nearby wooded area where police had to use a chopper to reach the crash site.

The location of the crash indicated that the planes weren’t on commercial or private charter flight pattern, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus said.

County Sheriff Jack Crabtree told the Oregonian that the plane broke up in mid-air and that part of the fuselage landed south of the Willametter River and another part landed north of the river.

The fight was completely one sided, and if Narvaez (35-1-2, 19 KOs) had accomplished anything that night, it was frustrating the 28-year old champ and 4,425 fans present in the Madison Square Garden Theater. The Argentinian was pretty much defensive in the beginning of the fight until the “Filipino Flash” landed hard rights on the body and a booming right on the face that wobbled him. After that, the fight left the Garden and Narvaez was all covers and ducking up to the end which prompted the crowd serious booing and chanting “this is BS!” over and over again.

“When I hit hurt him in the [fourth] round, I think he shut down,” Donaire (27-1, 18 KO’s) said. “I did everything I can.”

All three judges had scored the fight 120-108.

“It was very frustrating. The fans didn’t deserve this. My first time on the East Coast, Madison Square Garden. I apologize deeply for this. I wanted a knockout. It happens. He was definitely disappointing.”

Oh okay, so it’s chapter two of a battle between two classic sci-fi space-based movies, television series and print. On the left corner, setting a record earning 4.4 billion dollars as of 2008, the brain child of producer, screen writer and director George Lucas…it’s Star Wars! And on the right, it has 11 movies to date and possibly its 12th coming next year, it’s birth started in a television series that dates back in 1966, the brain child of Gene Roddenberry…Star Trek!

There’s no battle really between the two most popular and successful sci-fi franchise ever to grace the entertainment industry, its just a battalion of Jedi’s, Wookies and Ewoks versus James T. Kirk actor William Shatner.

So does Shatner have something new to say why Trek is the number one pound-for-pound king of space sagas?

Shatner claims that Star Wars was actually a derivative of Star Trek. Trek was about “relationships” and “stories that involved humanity and philosophical questions.” While Star Wars was about “special effects; [it] was ILM at its best.”

He adds that J.J. Abram’s 2009 film version is far superior, that the version dealt “with more human principles ” and now “has more special effects than Star Wars, so Star Wars has nothing to stand on.”

Shatner even takes a bite at the beauty of the actresses in Star Wars.

“Princess Leia, as beautiful as she was and as wonderful an actress as [Carrie Fisher] is, can’t compare to the marvelous heroines we have on Star Trek. The pretty girls were prettier than the girls in Star Wars.”

Hmm…I was kinda waiting for Shatner comparing his looks to Jabba. How about Space Balls? Can it stand up to Star Strek?

After loudmouth Mayweather unleashed a perfectly legal 1-2 combo on an unsuspecting Ortiz to score a knockdown in the fourth round, the more exciting and action-packed bout between Mexicans Erik Morales and Pablo Cesar Cano was quickly forgotten.

The match was on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Victor Ortiz undercard at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Morales always dreamed of becoming the first Mexican boxer to hold a world title in four weight division, a dream that would become a reality as he gave a bloodied Cano a swarm of right hands in the tenth round that prompted referee Kenny Bayless to call for a timeout to have doctors check Cano’s condition. The fight ensued and as Cano’s corner assessed that their boxer had enough the round ended, and the fight was called off after.

“He’s a young fighter and he throws really hard punchs,” the victorious Morales said. “It took me some time to get to my rhythm, but I did and was the better fighter. I could tell that the blood was making him nervous and once he started bleeding profusely, he was a little scared and it affected him.”

Morales was suppose to be fighting Lucas Matthysse of Argentina for the vacant junior welterweight belt but Matthysee dropped out of the match after a viral infection made him dehydrated and unable to train.

Morales had retired in 2007 after suffering four straight losses, two-of-the-four was credited to the best pound-for-pound figher, Manny Pacquiao. In 2010, he made a comeback after he felt he’s given his body enough rest and went to win three-of-four matches.

The television evangelist and The 700 Club host is facing a different giant this time. Surprisingly, it’s not the politicians he’s ticked, it’s the Christian leaders instead who are rebuking the media mogul.

Robertson turned a lot of Christian viewers head when he said on Tuesday’s 700 Club program: I hate Alzheimer’s. It’s one of the most awful things because, here is a loved one, this is the woman or man that you have loved for 20, 30, 40 years, and suddenly, that person is gone. They’re gone. They are gone.

The comment stemmed from a caller who narrated about a friend who started dating other women while his wife lies seriously ill with Alzheimer’s disease. The caller’s friend justifies the act saying that, “his wife as he knows her is gone.”

Robertson approves it, saying: What he says basically is correct. I know it sounds cruel, but if he’s going to do something, he should divorce her and start it all over again, but make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her.

The co-host asked Robertson if his advise violates marriage vows. Robertson replied that the disease “is a kind of death, I certainly wouldn’t put a guilt trip on you.”

Russell D. Moore, a dean of the school for theology in at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary wrote a response to Robertson’s sentiments at the Baptist Press News: This is more than an embarrassment. This is more than cruelty. This is a repudiation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Joel Hunter, a pastor in Northland Church in Orlando told ABC News: I just don’t know how anyone who is reading Scripture or is even familiar with the traditional wedding vows can come out with a statement like that.

Hunter said it best with: Obviously we can all rationalize the legitimacy for our own comfort that would somehow make it OK to divorce our spouse if circumstances become very different or inconvenient. That’s almost universal. But there’s no way you can get out of what Jesus says about marriage.

Emergency personnel were immediately notified, and the school’s safety responder rushed to the campus area where the student had called. School president Stephen J. Helmich ordered staff and students to remain where they were so that emergency personnel could come unhindered to the wounded student’s aide.

The reason for the shooting remains unknown. A classmate of his were surprised with the self-infliction.

“He’s a really good guy. He’s a happy guy around school,” said junior Vincent Halloran. “It was a complete surprise,” he added.

Halloran shared that the shooter played sports and took part in the same academic program for top students. “He’s funny, always happy and smiling,” Halloran described.

The student is currently in stable condition at the Wishard Memorial Hospital.

His gifted trainer and mentor, Freddie Roach opined the champ to get two more major fights before he calls it quits from the sport he loves and have lord over.

“I don’t really need this fight. I’m already satisfied with what I have done in boxing,” Pacquiao said in a press briefing in Las Vegas for his third bout with Mexican champ Juan Manuel Marquez.

For Roach, this is the first of the second major fight for the Pacman before retiring. The second, as he puts it if it does happen, “And I’d like that fight (Floyd Mayweather Jr.) be done. That would be the icing on the cake. I don’t think there would be anything else to prove.”

A member of the press asked when the 8-division world champion would hang his gloves .

“It’s not gonna be long, I wanna be in the executive in 2013. It’s gonna be hard for me doing both.”

The string of hits drew in nearly 90 fire or smoke reports to which the Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center in Prineville responded to. Dozens of fires rallied on the High Desert. Thanks to a team of volunteers and ranchers that aided the firefighters, the flame never went uncontrollable. Reportedly, civilians kept grabbing shovels and putting out lightning-sparked fire, even at time when lightning kept hitting nearby.

At Redmond Golf Course, the lightning strike and thunder was strong enough to shake the ground and break an underground irrigation pipe that flooded the 18th green. A report of a power outage affected the Deschutes County 911 dispatch center. Similarly, Pacific Power’s Pilot Butte Substation at 27th Street and Neff Road opened up two circuit breakers and knocked four Central Cooperative substations off-line.

There are no reports of injuries nor death.

Lightning, thunder, fire – the three amigos are typical visitors in August for Oregon.

The aftermath may not be too devastating, but the effects is alarming enough to evacuate 500 residents of two Prince George County apartment buildings and damaging 74 schools at Fairfax County.

Chunks of concrete broken off from walls have been reported, and in Prince George, a shelter was put up for the hundreds of residents.

Upon inspection, the National Park Service found cracks in the stones atop the 555-foot-tall Washington Monument.

Small cracks like these on building walls and homes are not to be taken lightly. More importantly, gas leaks for broken and cracked pipes pose a more immediate danger.

Utility companies are urging residents to leave their home at the scent of gas, then call 911. They are also urged to inspect and assess for cracks in drywalls, shifting foundations and leaks in water pipes.
