Everyone knows that smoking is bad for health. But here’s something new. A new study has found that the negative effects of smoking could be tougher to women.

A set of new research supports this. It seems that women are more vulnerable to the carcinogens and other noxious substances in cigarette smoke.

Swiss experts found in a study of about 700 people with lung cancer that women tend to be younger when they were diagnosed with the disease. This, despite the fact that the women smoked less as compared to the men who were in the group.

Another research from Harvard University and the University of Bergen in Norway studied more than 950 men and women with COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Their findings revealed that the women with COPD were also younger when they were diagnosed with the disease as compared to the men, also with the consideration that the men also smoked less.

According to the American Cancer Society, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. In the US alone, lung cancer is the leading cause of death for both men and women.
