Courtney Love has lost her legal control over her daughter with the late Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain. But Love’s lawyer, Keith A. Fink, is denying the speculations that suggest Love had another drug relapse.

Fink said, “Courtney’s been clean for years and is perfectly fine. This is simply about Frances preferring to live with her grandmother at this time.”

The lawyer added that Love’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, is a strong-willed 17-year old. What happened was simply a decision Frances made on her own.

The judge appointed Cobain’s mother and sister as the temporary legal guardians of Frances. This isn’t the first time her grandma was given legal control over Frances. Way back in 2003, Love was arrested for attempting to break into her ex-boyfriend’s home. She regained custody of Frances in 2005 after she proved to court that she’s not into drugs anymore.

In an interview last year, Frances told Harper’s Bazaar that her grandma has been a constant force in her life and that “she’s probably the person I respect most out of anybody in the world.”
