Eric Woolfson, famous singer and songwriter who was a member and co-founder of rock group Alan Parsons Project, is dead. He was 64 years old.

Woolfson has been a songwriter since the early 1960s. Prior to his collaboration with Parsons, he wrote songs which were popularized by more than a hundred artists, including Marianne Faithfull, Frank Ifield, The Tremeloes, Marmalade and Dave Berry.

According to the singer’s website, Woolfson died in London on Wednesday after suffering from cancer.

He has created about 10 albums with Alan Parsons, an engineer who worked with the Beatles on their “Abbey Road” and Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.” Some of the songs he made famous were “Time,” “Don’t Answer Me,” and “Eye in the Sky.”

Alan Parsons Project’s biggest selling album ever is their 1982 hit, “Eye in the Sky.” Other albums I Robot and Takes of Mystery and Imagination, which was based on Edgar Allan Poe’s works, are also well known.
