Mexico and Switzerland will lead the Group B opening match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria at the Telsim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria.
Mexico won a previous FIFA U-17 in Peru and will be riding on that during the match and are heavily favored to win the match against Switzerland. Switzerland lack of experience may prove to be their weak point as they have never fielded a U-17 team and lost early during the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Mexico coach Jose Luis Gonzalez China knows his team has the stuff to make it to the finals saying, “I see many similarities between this team and our 2005 side which won the tournament, especially in terms of quality. Our players and staff have come here with a common goal: to fight for the title,”
Swiss coach Dany Ryser accepts the underdog label given to them saying, “People might say we’re in a difficult group, but I’d call it an interesting one. We were in a similar situation in the European qualifying tournament and we did very well. The underdog tag suits us just fine.”
The match will take place at 11:00 AM ET, you can watch the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2009: Mexico VS Switzerland live stream on ESPN360 .
