History will be made as competition newcomer Switzerland takes on the heavily favored Nigeria in the FIFA U17 World Cup finals in Abuja, Nigeria.
Switzerland surprised the world with their impressive performance throughout the tournament, staring with their win over European favorites Germany and Italy in the Round of 16 and Quarter finals, respectively, to their 0-4 semi-finals win against Columbia. The Swiss were expected to head home early after finding the going tough, especially after they were drawn alongside Brazil, Mexico and Japan in the group stage.
The Nigerian Golden Eaglets are also in top form, demolishing all of the teams in it’s way and is determined to grab it’s 4th U17 World Cup crown.
Nigerian coach, John Obuh, is not underestimating the Swiss team saying, “Everyone has seen that Switzerland have some serious qualities, so we’ll have to give everything one more time to win. We’ve worked very hard to be able to defend our title and win a second consecutive World Cup. We’re going to do everything we can to keep our trophy two more years.”
Update: The Swiss left the Nigerian Golden Eaglets in tears as they scored a great 1-0 victory from the FIFA U-17 hosts.
