In preparation for its Google Voice service, Google has reportedly reserved approximately one million phone numbers with provider Level 3.
The Google Voice service, which was announced last March, will let their users have a single phone number that aggregates all their existing phone numbers. Calling your Google Voice number could direct the call to all your current registered numbers, for example.
Provider Level 3 had been allotting phone numbers for Google ever since the announcement of Google Voice, so the reports indicating one million reserved phone numbers may just be an indication that Google is close to being ready to roll out their voice service.
Currently, prospective Google Voice users are already checking on its official website to try and catch when it finally becomes available.
