A high school football player in Tennessee died Friday night shortly after collapsing during a play against another school.
Jake Logue, 18, of Sullivan South High School was pronounced dead around 10 p.m. at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Game footage shows Logue’s final play. It happened just before 9 p.m. in the third quarter of Sullivan’s game against West High School. Logue, who wore number 54, appears fine as he comes out of his stance to chase the play. Before the play ends, he falls in the open field. His teammates are then seen signaling for help from the sidelines.
As someone administers first aid, players crowded around Logue. It looked as if they were administering chest compressions at times.
An ambulance showed up after someone called 911. Paramedics took over and transported the fallen player to UT Medical Center about 20 minutes after he collapsed.
