Honda-Civic-1.8VMTCar company Honda recalled a lot of cars in Japan–about 1,532 cars, to be exact–because of faulty air bags. Air bag-related accidents in the US prompted the car company to make the recall of Inspire and Saber passenger cars.

Between 2007 and 2009, there were seven accidents in the US in which “metal fragments flew from ruptured driver-side air bags in Honda vehicles.”

Takata Corp.‘s shares suffered the most in almost three weeks in Tokyo. It fell 5.9 percent to close at 1,599 yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the most since July 13. The stock fell as much as 8.5 percent following the recall announcement yesterday, according to a report from Bloomberg.

Honda is still investigating whether the accidents were really caused by airbag problems or by other reasons.
