The new iPhone update is out early!
Friday–Apple recently released the newest iPhone 3.0.1 update. This update is the solution for your SMS vulnerability which was demonstrated at the Black Hat security conference this very same week. The original set release for the fix was supposed to be on Saturday. But then it’s Apple, and they do things really fast.
The flaw in the iPhone was revealed by security researchers Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner. Apple attributes the flaw in the CoreTelephony framework to a memory corruption issue in the decoding of SMS messages.
Getting the update means you have to download the entire OS all over again, but you can get it easily from iTunes. All you have to do is connect your beloved iPhone to your PC system (or notebook), turn on iTunes, click the “Check for Update” button…and voila! Your iPhone is perfect once again.
