Rumors of comedian Katt Williams arrested for burglary have been going around all day. What’s the real deal? The gossip also says it happened while Williams was on location in Georgia shooting a new movie.

According to reports, Williams was put in jail in suburban Atlanta after police arrested him for “breaking into a home and stealing roughly $3,500 worth of jewelry and collectable coins on Sunday night.” Reports also say he was charged with criminal trespassing and then he posted bond and has been released.

Aside from asking if this rumor is true, fans are now speculating why he’s done it. A number of reasons–drugs, mental illness, a troubled bank account– could be responsible but we’ll have to know for sure if this really happened.

Attorney William Briggs tells TMZ that this has been a mistake. He said Williams was indeed in Georgia working on a film but he was staying on the property of a Barry Hankerson–Williams’ personal friend and one of the movie’s producers. Briggs said an employee in the house reported the said burglary by Williams, because the employee and Williams were not getting along in the house.
