Who’s excited about the movie version of the ’80s classic cartoon The Smurfs?
Word has it that Katy Perry is joining the cast ensemble! Earlier this month, Variety said Perry would be in the movie, but they didn’t say which character she will be playing.
But new reports from Entertainment Weekly say that Perry is cast to do the voice for Smurfette.
The singer with the popular hits, “I Kissed A Girl,” “Ur So Gay,” and “Hot N Cold” will be joining an enormously talented cast which include Quentin Tarantino (Brainy Smurf), Neil Patrick Harris (Johan), Jayma Mays, Alan Cumming, Jonathan Winters (Papa Smurf), Kevin James (Hefty Smurf), George Lopez as Grouchy Smurf and Hank Azaria as Garamel.
The Smurfs is a comic and TV franchise which depicts the life of a group of small blue fictional creatures called Smurfs. It was created by the Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford. The movie adaptation will be hit theaters by next year.
