The 63rd annual Little League Baseball World Series will come to a close Sunday with US Vice President Joe Biden making a special guest appearance, as West Region champ Chula Vista, Calif., faces Asia-Pacific Region champ Taoyuan, Taiwan, at 3 p.m. (local time) for the championship.
According to Little League Media Relations Manager Chris Downs, Biden, who played in the Green Ridge Little League in Scranton, will be inducted into Little League’s Hall of Excellence, as will Chris Drury, captain of the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers.
Downs said that Drury played on the 1989 Series-championship team.
Special security measures will be in place due to Biden’s visit, Downs added. No one will be allowed to enter or exit Howard J. Lamade Stadium when Biden and Drury are on the field and attendees must be in their seats by 2:30 p.m. until at least 3:30 p.m.
Sections one, two, and three are assigned seating areas, and sections four and five are open seating for those who have tickets, said usher Jim Mougeutte.
Attendees must have tickets to enter the stadium, Mougeutte added.
