A Japanese man marries his Japanese girlfriend. Nothing weird in that, right? But here’s the catch, the bride was actually 2-D, as in a video game character.
The man who’s known as Sal9000 has taken his video game passion to the next level and actually married his virtual girlfriend.
This bizaare relationship has been made possible by “Love Plus”– a new Nintendo DS video game which allows men to court and woo 2-D women characters. The game has become quite a hit among Japanese men, as some lucky players even get to kiss their virtual girlfriends.
But it was Sal9000 who took it to the next level. He tied the knot with his favorite video game character, Nene Anegasaki, during the “Meet: Japan” event at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. A live audience was present and also a real religious priest. You can watch the clip here.
The wedding was broadcast on the Japanese video sharing Nico Nico Douga.
