David Beckham has backed Manchester United to go all the way in the competition after the former England captain saw AC Milan dumped out the Champions League on Wednesday night by 7-2 on aggregate.
“When you get knocked out of a competition you kind of hope that the team that knocks you out goes all the way. I really hope they go all the way,” said the former Manchester United number seven.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was also confident of his side reaching a third successive Champions League final.
“I was surprised at Real Madrid’s result. But European football is very tough now. In the last few years, English clubs have done very well and I think they will be there again. It doesn’t matter who we play in the quarters. We are there and hopefully we take advantage,” Ferguson said.
