Boxing enthusiasts celebrate! ESPN reports that the proposed fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are getting closer than ever.
ESPN reports there are multiple sources which confirm that the two have finally agreed to the terms and have therefore made a match possible. Mayweather was said to have finally agreed to the terms for the welterweight bout on Tuesday.
Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, was said to be flying to the Philippines to meet with Pacquiao and try to close his side of the deal. Sources said Arum was able to resolve issues with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who represents Mayweather.
One thing is for sure, a lot of venues want to get their hands on this fight. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants the fight to take place on his new stadium. But venues in Las Vegas are also in line, including the MGM Grand, which have already hosted several of Pacquiao’s fights.
If the match between Pacquiao and Mayweather does not push through, Pacquiao might fight with junior middleweight titlist Yuri Foreman. This is a chance for Pacquiao to win a title in an eighth division.
