The world of Formula One waits on what’s gonna happen now that Felipe Massa was declared by his doctors to be unable to race for the season.
Massa sustained multiple skull fractures in a crash during the qualifying for Sunday’s Hungarian Gran Prix. There’s also inquiries on whether possible eye injuries or complications might be a problem, but the doctors have dismissed this, saying Massa’s vision is not impaired.
Since Massa will not race any more, attention is now being diverted to whether seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher would consider coming out of retirement for Ferrari.
“It’s really up to Ferrari,” Schumacher’s spokeswoman Sabine Kehm told the Associated Press by telephone. “They must first decide what they want to do. And if they decide to ask Michael, they would then talk to him and he would think about it. But the decision could be just as well negative.” (via USAtoday)
Schumacher retired after the Formula One 2006 season.
Aside from Schumacher, a few others are also being considered, including test drivers Marc Gene and Luca Badoer. As of the moment, though, no decision has yet been made by Ferrari.
