Just recently, news broke out that Miley Cyrus‘ tour bus overturned, killing at least one member of the teen queen’s team.
Bill Douglas, the bus’ driver was killed in the accident. He was driving one of the four buses traveling to Greensboro, N.C. where Cyrus is scheduled to perform on Sunday. Douglas was 53 years old.
The bus overturned on the interstate outside of Richmond, Va., on Friday. Nine of the bus’ passengers were able to escape through the front windshield. Cyrus was not in the bus, as she flew to Nashville to spend some time with her family just before her concert.
Cyrus and her family expressed their heartfelt condolences. A statement posted on the singer’s website read, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill ‘Uncle Bill’ Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed.”
