After two hours of a competition filled with glitz and glamour featuring South Africa’s rich culture of music, the panel finally chose who to crown Miss World. The new Miss World is Kaiane Aldorino who hails from Gibraltar.

Aldorino clapped her hands to her mouth as soon as she realized her victory. Her name was announced and she had no words to describe how happy she felt. Silver confetti rained down to mark the pageant’s conclusion.

Aldorino works as an administrative clerk from the British Territory on the tip of the Iberian peninsula. She became the crowd favorite after she won the swimsuit competition.

Perla Beltran Acosta of Mexico was crowned first runner-up, and Tatum Keshwar of South Africa was second runner-up.

In a brief interview with the Associated Press, Aldorinotold of her plans to pursue her newfound responsibility, “I will try to do the best that I can now that I have opportunity and advantage.”
