Meet the “Oasis of the Seas“–it’s five times bigger than the Titanic, it features seven neighborhoods, an ice rink, a golf course and a 750-seat outdoor amphitheater. This is the largest cruise ship in the world and it has finally sailed towards its home port in Florida.
The Oasis of the Seas has to exit the Baltic Sea and it for its size, it must face the challenge of squeezing under the Great Belt Bridge, which is only a foot taller than the ship.
The Oasis of the Seas rises about 20 stories high. According to spokeswoman for the operator of the Great Belt Bridge Lene Gebauer Thomsen, the ship will speed up so that it sinks deeper into the water when it passes below the span.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Royal Caribbean International President & CEO Adam Goldstein said, “Obviously we did not want or anticipate she’d be born into the most significant economic downturn since the Depression. Even in this environment, we’re excited about her.”
