It was the kind of moment that makes US liberals delight in their mockery of Sarah Palin—while at the same time prompting supporters to applaud her “just folks” style.
The former Alaska governor was caught on camera peeking at crib notes scrawled on the palm of her hand to help answer audience questions after joking that US President Barack Obama was little more than a “charismatic guy with a teleprompter” during last weekend’s Tea Party convention.
Palin’s “palm points” video had gone viral on the Internet by Monday as critics cited them as evidence that the GOP’s 2008 vice-presidential nominee remains unprepared for a 2012 White House bid.
Blogger Stefan Sirucek wrote on the liberal Huffington Post, “The takeaway is that this presidential contender apparently can’t remember her supposed core principles and needs a cheat-sheet when simply asked about her beliefs. To quote Charlie Brown: Good grief.”
