In the latest round of Britain’s royal honors, renowned actor Patrick Stewart receives the honor of knighthood.

“This is an honor that embraces those actors, directors and creative teams who have in these recent years helped fill my life with inspiration, companionship and sheer fun,” said Sir Patrick Stewart. The 69-year old actor is only one among many who have received this prestigious honor.

Other personalities who were honored were theater and film director Nicholas Hytner and Erich Reich, a refugee from Nazi-occupied Europe. Reich is the one who organized last year’s 70th anniversary of the “Kindertransport,” which brought 10,000 children to wartime Britain.

Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi of the rock group Status Quo were named Officers of the Order of the British Empire, or OBE.

Director of , “Mamma Mia!” Phyllida Lloyd, together with artist Maggi Hambling and Olivier Award-winning actress Margaret Tyzack were given the honors of Commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE.

Creator of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Peter Jackson, was also knighted in New Zealand. Jackson, otherwise known as the “king of Middle Earth” for his films which earned 17 Academy Awards.

Jackson is currently working with Mexican director Guillermo del Toro on a two-movie prequel “The Hobbit.”
