Artwork Encourages People to Use Condoms to Protect Against HIV and to Go Vegan to Protect Against Impotence and Other Health Problems
New York — After learning that the New York City Health Department is holding a contest to see who can design the most eye-catching and informative packaging for its free condoms, PETA supporter Emily McCoy rose to the occasion and submitted artwork featuring a condom-covered cucumber and the words, “Protect Yourself: Go Veg. Safe Sex. Healthy Food.” Click here to see the ad.
“The cholesterol and fat that are found in meat, eggs, and dairy products can clog the arteries that go to all your organs, not just your heart,” says New York activist Emily McCoy, who designed the ad. “It’s a hard medical fact: Men who choose broccoli over bratwurst slash their risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes—and impotence.”
According to the Erectile Dysfunction Institute, up to 90 percent of all impotence cases are physical as opposed to psychological. High cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, and prostate cancer are leading causes of impotence, and scientific research has strongly linked each of these conditions to the consumption of animal-derived products.
As PETA’s condom-wrapper design illustrates, vegetarians are less prone to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity than meat-eaters. By avoiding cheese and other dairy foods, vegans are even more likely to escape the energy-sapping, impotence-causing, disease-inducing effects of animal-protein consumption.
