Phil Mickelson and wife Amy Mickelson have given the viewers a most touching moment on Sunday afternoon in Augusta.
Mickelson won the Masters. But more important than that, Mickelson’s wife Amy, was there to share his victory.
Amy has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Even though she was one of the most loved members of the extended PGA Tour family, she could watch her husband play only on TV, because of her illness.
Amy was in Augusta all week, but she was so weak she couldn’t walk the course. For most of Phil’s holes, she was watching in a house near the Augusta National venue.
But on Phil’s final winning hole, Amy came to the 18th green to meet and congratulate his husband in person. The loving couple shared a long embrace, and said private words to each other no one else heard. Those who witnessed it considers it among the most touching moments in Augusta’s long history.
