After a tragic 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Eureka, California on Saturday, residents gathered their efforts to clean up the damages.

According to David Eisenhower, spokesman for Pacific Gas and Electric Co., nearly 28,000 customers experienced power outages at the height of quake-related outages, most of them in Humboldt County.

But as of 11:30 p.m. (2:30 a.m. ET), power had been restored to 22,000 customers. All the rest should have power restored by early Sunday.

The California quake also brought with it about a dozen aftershocks, the strongest of which measured about 4.5 magnitude. Fortunately, no tsunami warning was issued, and no building collapsed.

Also a good news, no major injuries have been reported according to the Eureka Fire Department, although several people suffered cuts, scrapes, bumps and bruises, and one person was reported to have had broken hip.

Ferndale Fire Chief Tom Grinsell said the quake was “one of the strongest quakes I remember in quite a while. I assumed it was going to be a lot worse than we’re seeing.”
