A new research has dug deeper to get the answer to the question, “Why do women have sex?”

Two researchers from the University of Texas, Cindy Meston and David Buss conducted an online survey of more than 1,000 women aging 18-87 and found the real answers to the intriguing question.

The number one reason that came out was that women are attracted to their partners, therefore they seek physical gratification from them. This, according to the researchers, reveals that women are more like men–they have sex for the pure physical pleasure.

The survey also asked the question about sexual motivations. Some said they have what is called a “revenge sex”, to get back at unfaithful partners. The researchers were also surprised to learn that some women admitted to having sex just to get another notch on their belt, while some just wanted to get rid of their virginity. Other reasons varied from getting a promotion, to sleeping with a guy who couldn’t get any other dates as a form of sympathy.
