What can cause Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe to walk out of an interview? Well, it doesn’t take much to anger him, after all, he’s known for having some anger management issues. But recent events have just revealed another touchy topic you can’t discuss with Russell Crowe–his accent in his latest action flick, Robin Hood.
Interviewer Mark Lawson made that mistake while doing an interview for BBC radio.
Lawson told Crowe that he detected a hint of Irish in Crowe’s accent in the film. Crowe said, “You’ve got dead ears, mate, seriously dead ears if you think there’s an Irish accent.”
Crowe went on talking about the character. But Lawson again asks if the accent is more northern English. And Crowe said, “No I was going for an Italian, yeah. Missed it? Fuck me. Anyway”
And if that wasn’t enough, Lawson again braved another risky question, asking Crowe if it were true that during filming the movie “Gladiator”, Crowe didn’t want to say the famous line, “I’ll take my revenge in this life or the next.”
To which Crowe unhooked himself, and said, “I don’t get the Irish thing by the way.”
