To mark the 25th anniversary of his gold medal performance at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics, Scott Hamilton is going back on the ice.
In the five years since he took off from professional ice skating, Hamilton was fighting off a pituitary gland tumor and infertility by self-injecting hormones. He was also busy raising his two kids with his wife.
Hamilton shared with People that going back to the sport he loves will also get him back in to shape and keep him healthier. He battled testicular cancer in 1997.
Catch Hamilton’s return at the Scott Hamilton CARES Initiative, his annual cancer benefit at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on November 7. He is also set to be in a TV special with David Foster and Olivia Newton John, and will be giving commentary at the figure skating events at the 2010 Winter Olympics in February.
