The former Met general manager Steve Philips was suspended for a week by ESPN after details of his affair with a ESPN production assistant went public.
Philips, 46, worked as an analyst for ESPN and admitted to having an affair with Brooke Hundley. Philips confessed to his wife and local cops that he had slept with Hundley several times this past summer before dumping her.
“I have extreme concerns about the health and safety of my kids and myself,” Steve Phillips said in a police statement, adding that the woman became “obsessive and delusional” after he dumped her.
Not happy about being dumped, Hundley retaliated by calling Steve’s wife, Marni, detailing their affair and even saying, “We both can’t have him!”
Marni told the police that Hundley left “a detailed and very disturbing voice-mail message on my cellphone and a [text] message late that night.”
“The tone of the text message was, ‘I care about Steve, I make him happy, and we both can’t have him,’ ” Marni said.
