What’s up with Steven Tyler? Word has it that the rockstar is leaving Aerosmith. The band is marking its 40th anniversary in less than a year away.

Although it still hasn’t been confirmed, the reason for the rumors is Tyler’s declared desire to focus on a solo career. In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, Tyler said these words, “but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler, working on the brand of myself — Brand Tyler.”

Classic Rock magazine also reports that the band Aerosmith is planning to meet without Tyler. The magazine said the band will discuss the possibility of replacing their front man, or if they’d be “going on a long hiatus.”

But guitarist Brad Whitford said it will be difficult to replace Tyler, and that no one could imitate him. But he’s not closing doors on possibilities. “But, if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?” said Whitford.

After falling off a stage during a show in Abu Dhabi, Aerosmith had to cancel the rest of the tour.
