Rinaldo Nocentini gets to keep the yellow jacket maintaining the top spot yet again in stage 8 of the Tour De France. Trailing in second and third in the overall rankings were Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong.
Stage 8 went to Luis Leon Sanchez of Caisse D’Epargne, finishing the stage in 4 hours, 31 minutes, 50 seconds. Sanchez timed his burst of speed perfectly zooming past Sandy Casar of Francaise Des Jeux meters away from the finish line. Casar lags just about a second behind Sanchez and Mikel Astarloza of Euskaltel also behind by one second.
The cyclists will now prepare for stage 9 on Sunday before they get a day of rest on July 13. Stage 9 will wind 99.7 miles (160 km) from Saint-Gaudens to Tarbes.
