We have a number–a total of 1.8 million cars will be recalled in Europe in relation to Toyota‘s recall of vehicles due to faulty gas pedals.
Eight models of Toyota cars are involved in the Europe recall and they are: the Yaris – its biggest seller in the region – Corolla, Aygo, iQ, Auris, Verso, Avensis and the RAV4 sports utility vehicle.
Toyota, the world’s largest automaker has already started a recall of 2.4 million vehicles on three continents. According to a company statement, no Lexus and no other Toyota models are affected.
The recall has been damaging to the brand, given that Toyota has always been known to manufacture safe and durable vehicles. Tadashi Arashima, the president and CEO of Toyota Motor Corp.’s European operations said the problem “only occurs in very rare circumstances.” Moreover, Toyota also said only a limited number of incidents were reported in Europe, adding that the factories are now using different parts so they’re not stopping production in Europe.
