Toyota Motor Corp., announced on Tuesday the recall of 110,000 Tundra trucks from the 2000-2003 models to address the excessive rust on the frame of the vehicle.
The recall of the Tundras involves models registered in 20 cold weather states and the District of Columbia. The states are: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
In October, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received 20 complaints of “severe frame corrosion.” So they decided to conduct an investigation into the rust problem on Tundra frames. The government is advising the owners to remove the spare tire from the frame so they can prevent any hazard should it fall from the frame.
