The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake struck 373 km northeast of Tokyo at a depth of 24.4 km. The earthquake triggered tsunamis as high as 6 meters in Japan.
Tokyo’s Narita airport shut down and Shinkansen bullet trains halted during the Earthquake. Tokyo port also shut all 19 of its water gates as it prepares for the tsunami.
