Sources who are close to the Urban Meyer issue told Florida Today that Meyer has changed his mind and has decided to return as the head coach of Gators. But this comeback is said to happen after his indefinite leave of absence. Meyer will not coach for next year’s season.
Also according to the sources, offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will act as the head coach in the absence of Meyer. This was already confirmed by Addazio himself with New York Times reporter, Pete Thamel.
Only last Saturday, Meyer announced that he was to resign as the Florida head coach. He said his resignation was for health reasons. We can remember he was hospitalized for chest pains after the Gators’ retun home from a 32-13 loss to Alabama in the SEC title. Meyer’s wife, Shelley, also told the Orlando Sentinel that Meyer will not change his mind about quitting as Gators coach and that, “This is the best decision for him and us right now.”
So which is the real deal? I guess we’ll have to wait for the press conference to know for sure.
